For the 2nd Covid lockdown we designed a more advanced project for 12-14 year old. This was a scaled down version of the popular fairground attraction of the Buzzwire Game. The idea is to move the metal loop along a twisty path from one end to the other without triggering the buzzer to sound and LED to light up! Not as easy as it looks. The kit we designed fitted into a standard A4 padded envelope and had all the parts to make a miniature version of the game and crucially all without having to use a soldering iron! We once again all gathered over zoom to build the game together and although this was one of the longer project kits to make the children all managed to build them successfully.
A few years later we repeated the workshop with a group of older students at a Youthreach conference and the noise from 20 buzzers caused quite a stir!
